Judd Palmer is mostly known as one of the founders of the Old Trout Puppet Workshop, a company that creates puppet theatre mostly for adults and tours it around the world. With the Old Trouts, Judd has directed, designed, written and/or performed in many shows, including Famous Puppet Death Scenes, Ignorance, and Ghost Opera.

He also designed Vancouver Opera’s Hansel & Gretel and Twelfth Night at Theatre Calgary and the National Arts Centre, wrote and illustrated six children’s books (three of which have been shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award), wrote, directed, and narrated the award-winning Old Trout Christmas special (produced by the National Film Board), and is also the general manager of Puente Theatre, a company based in Victoria dedicated to building bridges between cultures.

In his misspent youth he was the slide banjo player in the trance blues band the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, and he is currently designing a robot, developing an augmented reality app, creating a video game, and working on two new kid’s books. He lives in Victoria, British Columbia, with the woman of his dreams, and their son, Max, who is currently three years old but will grow up to be a great conqueror.
