In 1976, Axis Mime Theatre was founded by professionally trained mime artists, Lin Bennett, Wendy Gorling, Elizabeth Murray-Byers and Wayne Specht. All were eager to share original theatrical creations in their chosen art form with Vancouver audiences. In 2015, Chris McGregor succeeded founder Wayne Specht as Artistic Director and together with current General Manager, Daune Campbell and Tour Coordinator, Petrice Brett, continue to create world class original plays, workshops and outreach activities.
Mission Statement
Axis Theatre Company exists to create and tour exceptional physical theatre for the young and young at heart – exploring aspects of clown, Commedia dell’arte, music, movement and puppetry to produce original productions.
About Us
UNIMA West is the Western Canadian Centre of UNIMA Canada, which is itself a National Centre of UNIMA International.
UNIMA West is supported in part by fiscal agent Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry (CAMP).
